Hello Y'all
To address the elephant in the room, there wasn't an August spotlight post. The month was gone in the blink of an eye and as a one-woman show, I had to pause the blog, but have no fear I am back! And for September there will be two Spotlights (one of course is the post you are currently reading and a second towards the end of the month.) So without further ado let me introduce to you Cascade Farms!
I had the pleasure of visiting Laura and her flower farm earlier this summer; it was magical! Butterflies, bumble bees, and blooms galore. Walking the grounds and talking to Laura, you can quickly feel her and her family's passion and knowledge for flowers and farming. With a caring heart for each of Cascade Farm's customers, this farm is a treasure to Chesterfield and the surrounding Pee Dee area. You can find her current U-Pick schedule and what is currently blooming on their Facebook Page. Want to pick up a pre-made bouquet closer to Hartsville? You can find Cascade Farms at the Darlington Farms Market or occasionally at Fleur De Lis!

Tell us about Cascade Farms!
We are a small cut flower farm located in Chesterfield County SC. We grow all seasonal specialty flowers in a pollinator-friendly environment. Our goal is to provide high-quality flowers affordable for the community and offer the experience for family and friends to pick flowers on our farm.
What push or moment made you take the leap of faith to start the farm?
We have always grown our own food because we can trust what we grow and we always had flowers as a habitat for pollinators but we wanted to also have a place where families can visit and kids can play while enjoying beautiful outdoors so we decided to increase the flower production significantly and become the local flower farm.
What sets Cascade Farm apart from others?
Ourselves. We aim to always provide the best customer service and care for our people, for us it's about being that place that will make you happy with memorable experiences affordable for anyone.
Where does your passion for the flowers and farming come from?
We love growing plants, they are full of life and provide us with precious food, what is not to love about being outside enjoying nature?
What is your biggest lesson thus far?
Patience and appreciation of my time as a grower, farming is a 24/7 job with Mother Nature as a boss.
Anything else you would like to add?
Everything we have done is by hand with just the two of us working to make it happen which has burnt us out a lot so my goal is to start making it easier on us plus having time to spend with our 2-year-old daughter. Winter is coming so that means nasty cold weather and high winds that my plants won’t like in order to have spring blooms so we have set up a goal to make 1000 pumpkins with dried flowers to help pay for a high tunnel. Last year I had to run in the middle of the rain and high winds to cover while the frost cover blew out leaving me defeated and I don’t want that this year.
Where can we find you?
We are on IG, FB, google, and our website! Just look us up at Cascade Farms SC.
